Civil Air Patrol Cadets salute Cadet Captain Don Coletta during a game of “fluffy bunny” dodgeball for physical training Thursday evening at the Wyoming National Guard Armory in Sheridan. From left, to right, Brie Marcus, Bryce Lydic, Talon Heatley, top, and Nathan Lydic. The cadets exercise military procedure in regards to addressing officers, taking orders and advancing in rank. The Civil Air Patrol was created during World War II as a volunteer aviation organization to aid in the war efforts. Today they are a valuable partner with search and rescue operations, which includes supportive roles from the air. For being an aeronautics-based organization, only 10% of personnel involved in the Civil Air Patrol are certified pilots. Justin Sheely | The Sheridan Press.
