Double amputee Dana Bowman, U.S. Army Sergeant First Class, retired, glides down to the field with the national flag during the Tongue River Veterans Day Community Celebration in November at Tongue River High School. Middle school students personally wrote letters to local veterans thanking them for their service and extending an invitation to their Veterans Day event. Dana Bowman was the guest speaker for the event. Bowman lost both of his legs in a midair collision during an exercise with the Army’s Golden Knights parachute team in 1994. Since that accident, he recovered and with the use of prosthetic legs, he reenlisted in the Army. Bowman is the founder of HALO for Freedom Warrior Foundation and currently performs skydive demonstrations and motivational speaking engagements.
