Ten-year-olds Alex Haswell, left, and Avery Baures walk with Science Kids Director Sarah Mentock during a bird watching class Tuesday at Kendrick Park. Mentock has been leading the ‘Trail End Trackers’ in partnership with the YMCA, Science Kids, The Trail End State Historic Site and the Bighorn Audubon Society. The trackers meet at the YMCA and walk to Kendrick Park and up the hill to the Trail End State Historic Site to spot birds, identify and count them. The trackers record what they find and submit the numbers the Cornell website. Mentock says that the Trail End Trackers program is a good way to bring kids outside and learn. The trackers have concluded their fall session but will resume the program in the spring. Those interested in registering can contact Sheridan County School District 2 after school program coordinator. Justin Sheely / The Sheridan Press.
