Big Horn Mercantile owners Holly Harper, left, and Collette Eliason sit inside the storefront Tuesday afternoon in Big Horn. The Big Horn Mercantile has been in the family since 1882.
The owners of the business will be clearancing all retail items this Saturday and will close until late spring to reopen as a pizzeria and sub sandwich shop. The owners also plan to demolish the brown barn next door and build an event hall called “The Barn in Big Horn,” which will be a venue for holiday parties, weddings, markets and cooking classes. Reclaimed wood from the original barn will be used in the facade of the front of the building to keep the historic look and feel. The event hall is scheduled to open this fall. The decluttering sale will be this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Justin Sheely/The Sheridan Press.
