Senior Pastor John Craft, left, and Ron Krikac look over the 9-foot long Bechstein Grand Piano last Wednesday, April 16, after delivery at First Baptist Church in Sheridan. The 1400-pound piano was purchased for use by the congregation’s regular worship services and to attract community classical music events in collaboration with the Sheridan Arts Council. “We want to fill a hole in the artistic calendar in Sheridan.” Craft said. The primary reason for the purchase was to open up the building to classical music presentations. The first classical music event is presented by the Piatigorsky Foundation, which is set for this May 8, at 7 p.m. and is free to the public. The Classical Music Concert will feature Katie Calcamuggio, a mezzo-soprano, and John Elam on piano.
